Students learn how to collect raw data and turn it into useful information through infographics.
Example Activity: Source and process raw weather data and produce a visualisation in 3D to allow a quick decision to be made about when to hold an outdoor festival.
Students learn code for either WEB using PHP and Javascript or develop Unity 3D solutions using C#.
Example Activity: Develop web Phishing pages with PHP and Javascript that demonstrate the process of how hackers steal personal information such as usernames and passwords.
Students work together to solve real world problems using technology including drones, micro controllers, software, networks, ecommerce, VR, AI, etc.
Example Activity: Using Arduino to develop a buzzing device that alerts deaf users of emergency evacuations (see gallery) OR develop multiplayer virtual classrooms using Unity 3D (see video).
Students learn what hardware make up SOHO networks and also look at Cybersecurity issues related to specific networking components.
Example Activity: Building a SOHO network using real hardware components including modems, routers, switches, IP cameras, NAS devices and different types of CAT cabling.
Students learn develop software to produce solutions to problems.
Example Activity: Using PHP arrays and Javascript to develop a web based grade calculator. Learn PHP Arrays here
The year long SAT project consists of 10 critiera. In unit 3 students cover criteria 1-5 (analysys to design) then continue the second half in unit 4.
Example Activity: Survey potential users about a problem or need then design a Software based solution.
Students continue their year long SAT project (criteria 6-10).
Example Activity: Using the designs from unit 3, students start coding and developing the solution.
Students learn about digital security and threats to data within the context of software development.
Example Activity: Examine a business's digital footprint and security processes then recommend fixes to mitigate the risks.
The Certificate III in Information Technology program offers a blend of foundation skill sets and knowledge in core ICT areas coupled with the opportunity for further insight into specialisation with units covering topics such as introductory-level programming techniques, IP ethics and privacy of information, diagnostic testing, and client service.
